Terms of Service

Last updated: November 2, 2026

These terms cover your use of Otter Mail, an email app for macOS, Linux, iPhone and the web made by Christophe Kafrouni under the Otterware name. By using Otter Mail you agree to them.

The app

Otter Mail is free to use, and its source code is public. It runs on your devices and connects to your Google or Microsoft account, or your IMAP mail server, with the access you grant when you add a mailbox. How it handles your data is described in the privacy policy.

Your account and content

You stay responsible for your mail accounts and for the mail you send with Otter Mail, and you must follow your mail provider's terms (such as Google's or Microsoft's) when you use it. Your mail remains yours; Otter Mail claims no rights to it.

Optional agent

The agent works through third-party providers you install, connect or sign in to yourself. Your use of those providers is governed by their own terms, and you are responsible for the actions you ask the agent to take on your mail.

No warranty

Otter Mail is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Otterware is not liable for any loss of data, mail or other damages arising from using the app. Keep your important mail with your mail provider, which Otter Mail never replaces.

Changes

These terms may change; the current version is always on this page. Continuing to use Otter Mail after a change means you accept it.
